Current UK multidisciplinary guidance generally recommends CONTINUING GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual GIP/GLP-1 agonists peri-operatively. Individual aspiration-risk assessment and appropriate mitigation remain essential. This differs from earlier guidance recommending withholding these drugs. SGLT2 inhibitors, by contrast, are generally omitted the day before and day of surgery because of the risk of euglycaemic ketoacidosis.
